What’s keeping Mountain Lion off of some 64-bit Macs? Ars investigates – Ars Technica

Apple has suggested to Ars that the list is not set in stone, however, so some of the earlier Core 2 Duo Macs may end up making the final cut after all. When Lion was released last year, it was Intel-only and fully 64-bit, removing support for 32-bit Macs.
