For projects that need onscreen talent to say long lines, we use an aduiotechnica wireless mic with a JuicedLink box to feed audio into the camera. The preamp sounds great, but takes a few minutes to setup and it isn't suitable for run and gun interviews. Lucky we stumbled across Mic W's booth during NAB. They offer a great variety of different mics for iOS devices. The lavalier omnidirectional i825 mic has great pickup. Designed for use in broadcast, the microphone is really small, making it less visible for on air productions. The mic ships in a compact kit box that includes, 4 windscreens (two yellow, two black), two clips styles, 10 sticky tapes (for instruments), a user manual and split adapter. There's enough pick up that you can even adjust the position of mic abit outside your vest to capture the audio of the sbiject. The mic requires no power. You can also monitor audio through the split adapter. The i825 retails for $199.99, you can get one over at mic-w.com. If you know of any other great mics for on field productions, let us know in the comments below. Don't forget to follow us on twitter, Facebook and subscribe on youtube. We'll see you guys next time. |
