Unlock iPhone Without Restoring

This guide will show you how to check if your phone has been unlocked or not. For this you need the following things: 1. Computer with internet access 2. USB Cable 3. iPhone 4. Non-official Carrier SIM Card To get this done you just make sure you turn off the phone to be tested. Once you do that insert then NON official carrier SIM card. After that, turn the phone back on and wait for it to boot up. Once the phone boots up plug it into the computer and wait for iTunes to try and activate the phone. Depending on the status of the phone you'll see one of two possible messages: A) If your phone is unlocked you will see a message that the phone failed to activate. At this point just unplug the phone and plug it back in and wait for iTunes to show the "Congratulations your iPhone has Been Unlocked" (this doesn't happen always) or you will see that the phone will get the activation. B. If your phone is locked you will see that when it has a non-official carrier and you plug it into iTunes the phone will show up a message saying "Only SIM Cards from Official Carriers are allowed" or something like that.
