App Wednesday: Alfred Review

Welcome to App Wednesday! Each Wednesday I will review an App for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Mac and today's app is Alfred. Alfred is similar in many ways to spotlight and allows you to search your Mac, the web, find and open documents and various other functions. The idea behind the App is that it requires the keyboard to use it so you don't have to use your mouse or trackpad. The App can be launched at any time by using the Option and Spacebar hotkey where you'll be presented with a search bar style interface. Any relevant search terms or commands can be entered into the search bar and any results are instantly displayed. All results will have a hotkey associated with them so that it's quick and easy to access them. Alfred can also be used as a calculator, a dictionary and also to control various command functions on your Mac. This is a nice alternative to spotlight that has some extra features all of which are displayed through a simple and easy to use interface. Alfred is available for FREE in the Mac App Store.
