With all of the ECD videos out there, I decided to toss one out there just to add to the discussion of what one might want to carry everyday. This video amounts to a "pocket dump", as it is exactly what I had on me yesterday when I returned home from running some errands. In short, I always have a watch and sunglasses. In my right front I have my keys and Kershaw Leek. Left front is only the iPhone, so it doesn't get damaged or scratched by other items. Left rear is my Streamlight Stylus Pro flashlight, which is thin enough to not get in the way of anything and on the left side because it is accessed infrequently. Finally, on the right rear is my wallet and the Glock 27 (gen 3) carried at the 4 o'clock position. Also I mistakenly said in the video that I was looking into a "Rema" holster, when I meant "Remora". My bad. Either way, my current holster sucks because it sits too far below the belt line. This means that if I ever had to draw, I would have to waste time digging it out of my pants, which its a no go. Some people talk about being able to get a good purchase on the gun, but with the Ace holster I get absolutely no "purchase" whatsoever... I'm left trying to fish it out with my forefinger and thumb. I have given some thought to carrying additional items (like a pen, pepper spray, etc.), but I honestly hate carrying around a bunch of stuff. I'm trying to get by on the minimums here, and if I need to carry more I can bring a bag, like my 5.11 messenger bag. |
