The new Maps app is going to be a big step up for Apple. Along with the new 3D Flyover feature, iOS 6 Maps has turn-by-turn navigation. Check it out as we go hands on... Overall the turn-by-turn works pretty well. I haven't had the chance to use it full scale while traveling, but it certainly does the job around town. The layout is clean, and the spoken directions are clear and concise. In case you're wondering, Siri's voice is what you'll hear during the navigation. I also noticed that when you lock the iPhone, the directions and navigation will show on the lock screen. Also, if you exit out to the home screen the navigation will continue, and a teal banner will appear at the top to notify you that the navigation is still underway. Turn-by-turn navigation in iOS 6 is a feature I've been anticipating for a long time. I'm glad Apple finally stepped up and implemented it this time around.
