Chronounce is a simple app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. It is a stopwatch and countdown timer that announces the elapsed or remaining time at various intervals, using speech synthesis. Here's some "behind the scenes" info for my Coding Together classmates: Obviously, this uses a UITabBarController. Other classes I'm using are NSDate and NSTimer for tracking and updating the displayed time, NSDatePicker for choosing a countdown time, Core Animation for making the date picker fly away, and Grand Central Dispatch to put the announcements on a background thread (otherwise the display stops updating while it's speaking). I'm using Open Ears (www.politepix.com for the speech synthesis. |
