Cloud Computing: CEOs Fail to Settle Apple-Samsung Differences

The jury will hear closing arguments Tuesday after the CEOs of Apple and Samsung failed to resolve their patent dispute in talks Monday. Presiding judge Lucy Koh warned the companies that either or both of them could be at risk if the jury gets the complicated case. She advised the CEOs to try settling again ahead of their deliberations. The jury’s verdict will currently depend on how it answers 700 yes-and-no questions unless Koh simplifies the verdict form ahead of the jury beginning its deliberations. Bloomberg said Monday morning that it heard from “a person familiar with the matter” that Tim Cook and Kwon Oh Hyun would talk. They went through such formalities before the trial started.
