US-based Apple Inc. has announced today it will move a part of its production from China to the United States. Apple's CEO Tim Cook told US media the company will spend $100 million to move the production of one Mac line to the US, starting next year. The tech giant has taken advantage of low wages in China, producing a range of products like the iPhone, iPads and Mac books. But the products have been marred by accusations that Apple's manufactures in the mainland frequently violate labor laws. [CAN SHOW FOXCONN] Cook says Apple does not plan to set up its own plants in the US. Rather, the company will invest money with whoever they end up working with. Apple used to make many of their products in the US up until the late 1990s. Cook did not say which Mac line will again be made in the USA. |
