Russian box office sales jump more than 13 percent in 2013; Russian shopping malls become the backbone of cinema growth

LONDON, UK (17 September, 2014) – Russia became the ninth largest box office territory following a 13 percent jump in box office revenue in 2013, according to a new report released today by IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of critical information and insight, in conjunction with its local research partner, Nevafilm.

“We are seeing the number of film releases and screens rise significantly throughout Russia,” said David Hancock, director of cinema analysis at IHS Technology.
