Region will import approximately 50 percent of its polyethylene requirements by 2025

HOUSTON (May 26, 2016) – Demand for polyethylene (PE), the key raw material for plastics production, is growing in Latin America thanks to an expanding middle class, but the region’s current and planned PE capacity will continue to fall short of demand, driving the region to import approximately 50 percent of its PE needs by 2025, according to a new study by IHS (NYSE:IHS), the leading global source of critical information and insight.
