After unveiling a ceramic Apple Watch last month, Apple filed a patent application for using ceramic in iPhones. Could ceramic replace aluminum and be the material of future Apple gadgets?
According to Wired, there are many benefits to creating a ceramic iPhone. For starters it’s four times stronger than aluminum so it’d be harder to bend, dent, and scratch. Furthermore, zirconia, the type of ceramic that Apple used on the Watch, would make it easier to bring wireless charging to the iPhone, as well as remove the antenna lines.
