Google somehow made Apple’s Live Photos better, with an update for Motion Stills

We were already fans of Google’s Motion Stills app for iOS, which makes it easier to share Live Photos you shoot on your iPhone 6s or 7.

Shooting, editing, and sharing Live Photos is easier with a Google Motion Stills update rolling out today (which begs the question of why Apple doesn’t offer these tools itself, but aaaaanyway). The marquee feature in this update allows you to choose a new main frame for your Live Photo and then export it back to your Camera Roll. If the default still doesn’t show off your moving image at its best, you can use the Motion Stills new slider tool to examine the Live Photo frame-by-frame and choose a new one.
