I started this project a few years back, starting out with porting over the Source engine to IOS, which took the most time. Then, it was just a matter of optimizing the actual game itself for iPhone and iPod Touch (which still took a while). I kept quiet about this so that people wouldn't keep bugging me about when it was coming out.
