Apple iPhone 3GS Lithium-Ion Battery Polymer Laminate Pouch Expansion - Defective Battery Video The iPhone 3GS battery expanded within it's polymer laminate pouch, but has not yet ruptured. The pressure from the pouch expansion was significant enough that the iPhone's casing was forced open. It popped open the entire iPhone at a 20 degree angle.
