Mountain Lion is a refined version of the previous OS, Lion, but also brings a bunch of new features. These features mainly come from the iOS. Some of these are Messages, Notification Center, iCloud, Reminders, Game Center, Notes, and more. Apple plans to release Mountain Lion Summer 2012, but if you are a Mac developer, you can use the new OS today. It will most likely be a $29 upgrade from the Mac App Store, just like Lion was.
