It's a semi-rigid case that combines the best of both worlds. Flexible shell with some hard shell attributes to keep it rather lightweight, rigid, and shock resistant. If there's one thing I am not really happy with it's the high gloss finish portions of the case, it's scratches unbelievably easy (as with pretty much all high gloss products out there). If you're the type that likes them always looking in pristine condition even after a few months, probably not the case for you. If a case manufacturer ever develops a high gloss finish that resists scratches (I mean for real), they would definitely make bank!
