As I own a Steadicam JR( by Garrett Brown) I wanted to see if I could mount my iPhone 4S on this rig. Normally not possible as the JR is developed for heavy camera's and therefore Tiffen launched the Steadicam Smoothee. Inspired by vimeo.com/janvandermeer who also balanced a small camera on his JR I added an extra steel plate on the stage together with a Cullmann quick release plate. I use the light stopblock, mounting hole #2, no weight in the lower spar, no monitor. The balance is OK but the rig i still too bottom heavy and I do not have more turns on the Z axis so the only option I could try is to add more extra weight onto the stage. To be continued.... |
