4-inch iPhone Screens May Be Coming This Year

Follow: @SlateViral, Facebook.com/SlateVideo Watch: YouTube.com/Slatester, SlateV.com iPhone users with screen envy over Samsung's new 4.8-inch display may be in for a treat this year. The Wall Street Journal is reporting Apple has ordered bigger screens from its Asian suppliers to outfit the next generation of iPhones, likely due out this fall. Since it made its debut in 2007, the iPhone has had a 3.5-inch screen, and while they've been an undisputed smartphone champ, others are catching up. Samsung in particular is nipping at Apple's heels, having shipped 44.5 million phones this first quarter, topping Apple's 35.1 million iPhones. With substantial growth in users looking to their phones for all kinds of media, a half-inch expansion will probably be a welcome change for Apple lovers. All this back-and-forth is surely a good sign for consumers, who will reap the rewards while tech rivals compete to keep up with the phoneses.
