The Martinez House – Sacramento, CA – Possible Ghost Caught on Camera (2012)

We heard that the door is always unlocked. After a few cocktails, a pack of smokes, and some wholehearted chats, we walk the few blocks to 2131 H street. It is known as the Martinez House, although the current resident testifies that there was never an owner with that name. The house was built in the 1906 for Dr. Aden Hart, founder of Sutter Memorial Hospital and his family. According to forgottenusa.com, Dr. Hart gifted the house to the patriarch of the family who suffered from dementia. He one day murdered everyone in the house including the servants and the family cat. The house has been vacant since the 70s, but is still kept up. A modern surveillance system is installed through the gargoyles that sit perched above the door and attic window. This is the type of house that you cross the street to walk by. Its boxy colonial revival form stands strong with its dilapidated brick facade. The iconic columns lead your eye to the imported stained windows that reveal covered furniture to the passerby. I was along for the ride so as two of the girls climbed the fence, I took out my camera. Trying the door with no luck, they preceded to skim the west side of the house. Discovering that there was no way in except barred basement windows, they were reluctant to try. As soon as they turned the corner on the 22ned street side, my phone was handed to my friend Karli, who started recording the the girls on the east side.
