The pictures are of acceptable quality with colors washed out here and there but nonetheless good for a quick picture (wouldn't recommend taking pictures with an iPad because of the size though). The 1080p video it captures is pretty much up to par with the iPhone 5, iPod touch 5 and iPad mini with good quality and supports tap to focus, autofocus and face tracking. The front camera is where the improvement really shows with a 720p hd 1.2 megapixel camera the front camera is a huge step up from the old VGA camera from the iPad 3 although with low light the quality is drastically decreased.
