4K TV shipments grow nearly 400 percent as LCD TV demand softens and growth slows to its lowest level in six quarters
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (June 8, 2015) -- 4K LCD TV shipments grew nearly 400 percent year-over-year to reach 4.7 million units worldwide in the first quarter (Q1) of 2015. Volume barely dropped from the seasonally strong fourth quarter (Q4), with especially strong demand in China during the Chinese New Year holiday season, according to IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of critical information and insight. However, growth for the rest of the TV market was not as robust in Q1.
