Extreme weather dominates the U.S., flooding the South and baking the East

Beware the omega blocks and atmospheric rivers of March. 

The weather pattern for much of the week is one that forecasters have not seen before, or at least not since March of 2012, when a somewhat similar pattern yielded somewhat similar results.
