At first glance, Apple’s removal of the 3.5mm audio jack on the newest iPhone 7 seems like a way to boost sales of the wireless headphones. And it just so happens that Apple also owns the largest maker of wireless headphones in the world, Beats.
But if Apple wanted to boost sales of Beats, the company could have simply just removed all other headphones from Apple stores. Two years after the Beats acquisition, Apple continues to sell third-party headphones. In fact, this year, Apple gave Jaybird the A-OK to sell wireless earphones in Rose Gold and Space Gray.
