Missy Elliot’s hometown fans want to prop up her statue in place of a Confederate monument

Over 22,000 people have signed an online petition to replace a Confederate monument in Portsmouth, Va., with a statue of their local hero, Missy Elliott.

After the white supremacists rally in Charlottesville,
there have been calls to remove several Confederate monuments across the country....
